The Faculty of Geodesy, Technical University of Civil Engineering Bucharest and Romanian Surveyors Union (UGR) are inviting you to participate at the 4th edition of GeoPreVi scientific event of the Faculty of Geodesy, organized under the umbrella of Romanian Surveying Week, between 23rd and 25th of October, 2024, hosted at Sheraton Hotel, Bucharest, Romania.

International Symposium "Geodetic Engineering at the Service of the Community" will bring together specialists from geodesy, surveying, cadastre, land management, local administration, GIS, and other related fields, being the central part of the event.

PARTICIPANTS AND FOCUS

The international event is organized by the Faculty of Geodesy, Technical University of Civil Engineering Bucharest and Romanian Surveyors Union (UGR), in collaboration with International Federation of Surveyors (FIG) and the National Agency for Cadastre and Land registration (ANCPI).

GeoPreVi offers participants the opportunity to present papers, debate and communicate in a professional and scientific manner, highlighting their own contribution to finding technical solutions and new research to identify social, technical and environmental benefits.

Conference technical papers and presentations main topics are:
  • 1. The Profession – training, responsibility, evolution
  • 2. Geospatial technologies – support for development
  • 3. GIS applications fit for purpose
  • 4. Engineering Surveying for the built environment (Applied Surveying for Civil engineering structures)
  • 5. Digital transformations for land and building management (Government-Data-Standards-Partnerships)
  • 6. Current Challenges in AI, AR/VR, ML, DL
  • 7. Ideas Hub – Student presentations

”The Profession – training, responsibility, evolution” session will provide a forum to present, enhance and discuss topics related to the profession, such as specific responsibilities of the geodesist in the digital era, legislation regarding the Geodetic Engineer profession, professional development opportunities and other important aspects regarding the future evolution of the profession.

”Geospatial technologies – support for development” session aims to present geospatial technologies as a support for development. In this regard, participants are encouraged to present and discuss standards and quality assurance in geospatial technologies, use cases of GNSS technologies, Laser Scanning and Remote Sensing, geospatial data processing techniques, as well as BIM (Building Information Modelling) applications.

”GIS applications fit for purpose” session will accommodate a wide range of presentations covering the use of GIS as a geospatial data environment in applications such as Smart Cities, urban planning or sustainable development.

”Digital transformations for land and building management (Government-Data-Standards-Partnerships)” session will provide the means to discuss the main national and international standards for digital transformations of the land and building management systems, the use of cadastre as a base for land and building management, land evaluation and administration aspects, as well as the use of new concepts such as Digital Twin in land and building management.

”Current Challenges in AI, AR/VR, ML, DL” session will provide a forum to present and discuss the use and implications of emergent technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Virtual Reality/Augmented Reality, Machine Learning and Deep Learning in geospatial data processing, management and visualization.

Lastly but not least, the ”Ideas Hub – Student presentations” section will give students the opportunity to present, enhance and discuss their research, work and ideas on all topics of the event, with professionals in the field.

We invite you to submit your abstract by 08th of July, 2024 01st of August, 2024. It is important that all submitted abstracts focus on the symposium topics. Other related topics can be proposed, but it is suggested to contact the scientific committee beforehand. All the papers and presentations should be submitted through the conference website.

⇒ Notification of acceptance for presentation19th of July, 2024 16th of August, 2024
⇒ Submission of the full paper/presentation29th of July, 2024 26th of August, 2024

The abstract should be 300 to 500 words in length describing the objectives, results, conclusions and significance of your work. The abstract shall include the names and affiliations of all authors.

You can submit your abstract for “regular” or “short” oral presentation. A regular presentation is a 10-15 minutes, whereas a short means a 5 minute poster presentation of your topic.

A display wall will be organized within the exhibition area, where those authors that are not included in the technical sessions program could present posters related to the papers submitted and accepted by the scientific committee. The authors will present and offer details on the posters according to a detailed program during expo hours.

All abstracts shall be submitted online to the organizers at anca-patricia.gradinaru@utcb.ro and on the conference web site: Module Registration & Contribution.

If you encounter any problems uploading your paper please contact the organizers at: anca-patricia.gradinaru@utcb.ro
